Mysterious OTA vice-president becomes ITF head

Odisha Taekwondo Association (OTA) bagged two posts, including that of the president in the election of the Executive Council (EC) of Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI), held at Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Bhawan in New Delhi, for a four-year term (2016-2020), on June 26, 2016. Of the OTA duo, Chetan Anand was elected as president, while Santosh Kumar Mohanty became an EC member.

According to an OTA press release today, election of office-bearers of TFI was conducted as per the order of Delhi High Court, dated 30th March, 2016 and 20th May, 2016. Election was conducted in the presence of former Delhi High Court judge Justic M L Mehta as returning officer and IOA joint-secretary Kuldeep Vat and Sports Ministry representative Indrajeet Singh Pabla as observers.

But the election of Chetan Anand raised eyebrows. Despite being an unknown name in Odisha and not occupying any post in OTA, he represented the state body as its vice-president. Efforts to find out the identity details of Anand over telephone proved in vain as Santosh Kumar Mohanty, who is the OTA general e secretary, did not respond the call.
